Media Center Internet Resources
Students can login to the Media Center Internet Resources link to find available databases, websites, and search engines available for Piney Point Elementary Students both at school and at home. Please contact Mrs. Anderson for user name and password information.
Media Classes
Pre-Kindergarten will come to the media center for a story and book checkout. Kindergarten – 5th grade students visit the media center once a week for a 45 minute class. During their class time we read, complete lessons on technology and media topics, and check out books. Standards-based grades are given to students, twice a year, based on their library skills and performance.
Checkout Procedures
In the Media Center we house a collection of fiction, nonfiction books, and magazines. The materials can be checked out for one week. Students can also renew the materials if they are not finished reading them. Students will not be allowed to check out new materials until they have returned all items that are already checked out. Overdue notices inform the student as well as the parent as to when the book was due. These notices are sent home so that the student can receive help in locating the book to be returned.
How Many Books Can Students Check Out?
PreKindergarten - First Grade
1 Book each week
Second- Fifth Grade
2 Books each week
Media Center Volunteers
Volunteers are always welcome in the media center. Duties can include shelving books, pre-processing books, help with the students with their computer skills or library activities. Please contact Mrs. Anderson for procedures and to set up times.
